This explains what Snapline collects, why, and who else sees it. It covers snapline.tools and app.snapline.tools.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, and — if you sign in with Google — the basic profile Google returns. We don’t store your password; authentication is handled by our provider.
- Preferences: your default units, default manufacturer, theme, whether you’ve dismissed the intro tour, and whether compliance warnings are shown.
- Billing: your subscription status, plan, renewal date, and identifiers issued by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number — card details go directly to Stripe.
- Usage analytics: pages viewed, features used, and which pricing variant you were shown, tied to a pseudonymous identifier and (once signed in) your account.
Measurements you type are calculated in your browser. We don’t store your calculations on our servers.
Why we collect it
- To provide the Service and keep you signed in.
- To email you the things the Service depends on — a sign-in link when you ask for one, or a password reset. We don’t send marketing email.
- To take payment and manage your subscription.
- To understand how the product is used so we can improve it.
- To run pricing experiments — different visitors may be shown different prices.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your data. We use these processors to run the Service:
- Supabase — database and authentication.
- Netlify — website and API hosting.
- Stripe — payment processing and card storage.
- PostHog — product analytics (US region).
- Resend — sending the emails the Service needs to work: sign-in links and password resets. Your address is shared with them for that purpose only.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
We may also disclose information where required by law.
Cookies and similar technology
We use a cookie to keep you signed in, and an analytics cookie set across snapline.tools and its subdomains so a visit and a later sign-in are recognised as the same person. Blocking the analytics cookie won’t stop the app working, though it may affect which pricing you’re shown.
How long we keep it
Account and preference data is kept while your account exists. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require, typically seven years. Analytics data is retained per our analytics provider’s standard retention.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to complain to a regulator. Email privacy@snapline.tools and we’ll action it. Deleting your account removes your profile and preferences; billing records we’re required to retain are kept for the period above.
International transfers
Our providers are based in the United States, so your data is processed there. If you’re in the UK, EU or elsewhere with transfer rules, we rely on our providers’ standard contractual clauses.
Children
Snapline isn’t intended for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects you we’ll tell you as the law requires.
Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change and move the “last updated” date. Material changes will be notified by email or in the app.
